Emily Haldane is a dynamic and versatile performance artist with a rich and varied artistic portfolio. Her performance work began in musical theatre in Australia and political theatre in South Africa. Over time, she has transitioned into more contemporary works that skilfully blend different forms of artistry together. This includes non-verbal physical theatre, dance, puppetry (including object theatre, table top puppetry and large-scale puppetry), drag performance, clown and mime work as well as digital performance. Some of the theatre companies Emily has worked with in London over the years as a performance artist includes Little Angel, Smoking Apples, Light The Flame and Cracking Slate Theatre. She has performed in Masterchef Mo a one-woman puppetry show, as a puppeteer at the Kilburn Lights Festival with large-scale puppets performing on the streets, Legend of Kaguya as a multi-rolling physical theatre actor and puppeteer as well as Lose the Path, Find your Way as a forum theatre actor-facilitator. Applied Clowning also serves as one of Emily’s specialities, as she works as an applied clowning performer in hospitals, SEN schools and Dementia homes across the UK, as well as with the Flying Seagulls in refugee camps internationally.
In the cabaret scene, Emily performs as D’Filth a queer, biracial alternative multi-faceted cabaret performer. She is an alternative burlesque performer, drag king, and drag clown mime. Her form of performance uses physical comedy as its main point while providing social commentary on social norms. She has performed at the Brighton Fringe Festival, Runt of The Litter, Qw’ere, Shenanigans Cabaret, Glitter and Titter, Thanks be to Bod and the Camden Cabaret amongst others.
At present, Emily’s performing in a solo show called Identity Kaleidoscope with Kaleido Theatre Company.Identity Kaleidoscope is an innovative one-person show intertwining drag, clowning, and digital elements in a “choose your own adventure” style performance. Focused on BIPOC LGBTQ+ experiences, it’s a transformative journey of self-acceptance which integrates comedy, lip-sync, and audience involvement, through challenging norms and exploring the power of laughter in silencing voices.
Beyond her live performances, Emily is an online content creator, creating queer and biracial educational comedy content for children on TikTok and YouTube.
